Your News... In Real-Time!

At Bruce Middle School we've decided to go paperless with our newsletter.

There are two advantages to this:

- The saving of paper is a savings in costs and more importantly another step in our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

- By offering news in this format, we can now provide our community with real-time news as it happens, instead of waiting until the end of the month to send out information.

SEWING SUPPLY LIST

Dear Parent or Guardian,

We will be starting sewing in Home Economics on October 24 and the students are required to supply their own fabric or purchase a sewing kit from the school. Kits are $15 and the students will get a choice of fabric which is suitable for their project. If you would prefer to go out and purchase your own fabric, the following supplies are needed:

GRADE 6 & 7 SEWING: QUILLOW PROJECT

1.5 metre printed fabric – 115 cm wide (1.2 m-150cm wide)

1.2 metre plain fabric – 115 cm wide (1.2 m – 150 cm wide)

1 metre quilt batting

Examples of suitable fabrics include broadcloth, cotton, flannelette, chambray or other woven fabrics. Please do not purchase satin or shiny fabric, as it is difficult for new sewers to work with.

GRADE 8 SEWING: BOXER SHORTS OR PYJAMA PANTS

1.  Boxer shorts

1 metre woven fabric (flannelette is inexpensive and easy to work with)

    1. cm WIDE elastic (enough to go around their waist)

MTS Orange Shirt Day at Bruce

MTS Orange Shirt Day at Bruce

On Friday, Sept 30, students and staff participated in The Manitoba Teacher’s Society Orange Shirt Day to honour survivors of residential schools and to acknowledge that every child matters. The day is part of the Truth and Reconciliation: Calls to Action on Education. Students and staff wore orange as a sign of respect and to raise awareness about the “cultural genocide” on the First Nations people, brought on by residential schools. Students also participated in class activities to highlight the importance of respecting diversity at school and beyond.
