MTS Orange Shirt Day at Bruce
On Friday,
Sept 30, students and staff participated in The Manitoba Teacher’s Society
Orange Shirt Day to honour survivors of residential schools and to acknowledge
that every child matters. The day is part of the Truth and Reconciliation:
Calls to Action on Education. Students and staff wore orange as a sign of
respect and to raise awareness about the “cultural genocide” on the First
Nations people, brought on by residential schools. Students also participated
in class activities to highlight the importance of respecting diversity at
school and beyond.
